Create KPIs on the Fly
WebTrends Analytics 8.5 delivers analytics insight with a few mouse clicks.
| |
Gain new insight - such as Average Visit by Page Views or Average Revenue per Order (see inset, above) - by dragging and dropping data that they want to compare directly into reports. |
WebTrends Analytics 8.5 makes it quick and simple to create key performance indicators (KPIs). New computation features and AJAX-enabled enhancements to the user interface make it possible to compare analytics results and create equations by dragging and dropping measures within analytics reports.
The equations are calculated within the report, eliminating the need to export data into Excel spreadsheets for many types of calculations. You can add calculations to reports at any time — or rearrange existing columns or add new ones. Reports also can be bookmarked for easy collaboration and quick access.
The following are examples of how marketers can use calculated measures to quickly build KPIs for their business:
Measure campaign performance. Here's how: Divide the number of visits or visitors acquired by a campaign by the number of conversions (purchases or others). This conversion rate can be compared across campaigns to understand the effectiveness of marketing efforts relative to each other.
Identify products that customers abandon after they've shown interest. Here's how: Subtract the number of product orders from the number of times it was added to the cart, and then divide by the number of times it was added.
Evaluate which products are purchased most often after visitors view product information. Here's how: Divide the number of orders by the number of product views for a product SKU or other level of product category.

Internet Strategy Forum Features WebTrends CEO Stickel, Other 'Titans of E'
New WebTrends CEO Dan Stickel will be among the featured presenters at the 5th annual Internet Strategy Forum (ISF) Summit on July 17 and 18 in Portland, Ore. The forum provides business executives and e-marketers a chance to learn about smart enterprise online strategy from top Internet industry leaders — whom the ISF has dubbed the "Titans of E."
Dan will speak on July 17 about how marketers can turn the goldmine of customer intelligence that's generated on their web sites into business insight. He will spotlight the importance of capturing visitor-level interactions and using open, standards-based analytics technologies to share this insight across the enterprise and beyond.
Other speakers at ISF include Nancy Bhagat, vice president of Intel's Sales and Marketing Group; Charlene Li, vice president and principal analyst at Forrester Research; Chris Shimojima, vice president of Global Digital Commerce for Nike; and David Placier, vice president of Consumer Insights for Disney Online.
